Kusuubira Women Foundation

Born from personal adversity and rooted in hope (Kusuubira means “hope” in Luganda), this social enterprise empowers teenage and single mothers in rural Uganda through hands-on vocational training, ICT skills, and social entrepreneurship. By transforming waste materials – such as old T‑shirts – into sellable recycled bags and other products, Kusuubira not only creates income opportunities but also addresses plastic and fashion waste. Focusing on multiple impact areas such as education, job creation, and sustainability, the foundation has reached over 80 women directly through their workshops, positively influenced more than 250 women and their households and generated 20 jobs. Through their holistic approach, Kusuubira fosters independence, community well‑being, and sustainable livelihoods.
